A CLEAN START

I hope your 2013 started well...mine began very stressful! Finally after a very long time without Internet and a broken phone I can complain to you on here about the worst move of my life. A move that seemed endless and left me with so many broken things including my old beloved record player and my whole photo archive still missing! I have a ton of little stories I could bore with now, a hundred little tragedies that happened along the way, but no one wants to read on and on about my moving stress -let's just say it was one of these times where everything seems to go wrong! But the good thing is that Asim and I are finally in a beautiful new place with much more space and lots of light (will be such a joy to take pictures in a bright room)! I keep it short for now and leave you with the news that I'm still here and that I'm very sorry if I haven't answered any of your kind words in comments or mails. I missed you quite a bit!

  2. Wow, what a situation! I am so attached to my things that I would be hugely upset with this kind of thing. Gee, I hope you find your photos. But I'm glad you got a nice place!

    Um abraço,
    Luana

    1. Oh, I tell you Luana, I was very upset...even shed a few tears! I have lost so many old beloved things, from my grandmother and grand-grandmother just because the packers thought it was all junk. They told me I could get everything so cheap and nicer from ikea and had absolutely no respect of my old furniture. Not even talking about my photos, still hoping to find them in the things they left behind for "clear out" -Ugh!

    2. Gee, this happen and you still have to listen from the packers what they said is really get on your nerves!

I think in that case, look in our own memories will end up being a comfort when you want to think about the past. Many things of my grandmother were also lost over time for various reasons. Console myself with the memories of my head.

The problem is that these things, beyond memory, also make the decoration more beautiful!

  9. Stunning photos as per usual. How frustrating to be told you could simply buy new things from Ikea! It's a shame that some people don't understand the preciousness of the old. Simply there is nothing better! We are moving out at the moment, out of the country even. So we are whittling out belongings away. Thanksfully we have had a year so I have slowly detached myself from all I can, it has been refreshing, though I hope I don't regret getting rid of any of the things. And of course, there are precious things that will live at my parents for the next...who knows how long.
Good luck with the settle and heres hoping for a stella year! x

    1. Thank you! And good luck to you, as well! I hope your move won't be too stressful (I mean it always is a little...specially when you're moving so far away) and that you'll have a wonderful new start in your new home!

  11. Vavavoom! Loving your curves :)

Sorry to hear you had such a stressful move. I recently moved as well but we had to move out before we had a place so we moved to a few different places for a few weeks each until we then finally moved into our new place. We are still not fully unpacked. Moving is such a pain! But rewarding if the new place is much nicer! Looking forward to more pics :)

  12. As someone who recently had to start fresh from nothing, selecting things for your home isn't always as simple as a trip to Ikea! Best to keep in mind, though, that when things start out badly they can only get better from there. At least this is what I tell myself! Can't wait to see how you decorate!

    Happy new year!

    1. You're so right, that's exactly what I told myself! And decorating is actually the thing I'm looking forward the most right now as well...I make sure to take some pictures!

PS I checked your etsy store, very lovely!

    2. Oh thank you!

I really find your blog inspirational, but aside from selling things I love on etsy I've never had the guts to start my own blog. Maybe someday I will branch out :)

    3. Oh, I know that feeling! I had the wish to start a blog for a few months until I finally had the heart to do it...and I'm so happy I did!

Let me know if you ever get your own space in the blogworld :)
